Since 2013, Inlandia has published literary-focused newspaper columns in the four local newspapers: San Bernardino Sun, Redlands Daily Facts, Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, and The Press-Enterprise. It is called Inlandia Literary Journeys and it runs on Sundays. We have a slate of volunteer columnists who write on a variety of topics related to the state of literature in the Inland Empire.
The Inlandia Literary Journeys Column Coordinator receives the columns from the columnists, proofreads them, edits them for AP style, and submits them to our editor on a weekly schedule. This position is overseen by Inlandia's executive director, Cati Porter.
While it is a volunteer position, it offers the opportunity to work one on one with seasoned journalists and provides insight into the inner workings of a daily newspaper. It requires a significant commitment in order to meet Inlandia's ongoing weekly deadlines. If you are someone who aspires to a career in journalism this could be a good first step and may lead to paid opportunities in the future.
